Fr Simon Hughes is parish priest of St Peter's, Deans and chapain to St Margaret's Academy, Livingston.
He was born in Knutsford, Cheshire in 1959 and baptised as a baby in the Anglican Church. In 1969, his family moved to Linlithgow and he went to school at Linlithgow Academy. He gained an Honours Degree in music from Edinburgh University in 1981. After this he worked, for a number of years, primarily in music teaching.
Fr Simon was received into the Roman Catholic Church in 1987 and started Seminary in 1989 at the-then Gillis College in Edinburgh. Ordained as a priest in 1995, he has worked in Broxburn, Stirling, Romania, Falkirk (twice), Bathgate, Tranent, Methil and, since 2016, in Livingston. Fr Simon loves music, gardening, art, Dr Who and he has a cat called The Dude.
